It’s a roaring success for Vicky Kaushal’s historical-drama Chhaava as the film has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark at the box-office in India, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s worldwide collection stands at Rs 566.50 crore.
In two weeks since release, the film has done an India Net collection of Rs 412.50 crore. On Friday, the film earned Rs 13 crore, staying consistent over its collection from Thursday which was at Rs 13.25 crore. In the first week, the Laxman Utekar directorial earned Rs 219.25 crore and has become Vicky’s highest grossing film. It has also become the first blockbuster of 2025.
Vicky plays the role of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the film which also stars Akshaye Khanna, Rashmika Mandanna, Vineet Kumar Singh, Ashutosh Rana and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.
It released in theatres on February 14. Our review of the film reads, “After a meandering start and a middling middle, Chhaava leaves some impact by the climax. Vicky’s Sambhaji batters a sea of Mughal soldiers with a log, and although it seems like a scene from a zombie apocalypse film, it boasts of scale and filmmaking. His subsequent torture by Aurangzeb, although true as per popular history, is grotesque and stretched. Days and nights pass as a bloodied Sambhaji stands in chains like a biblical Jesus. His nails are ripped off, and his eyes are gouged out. But you don’t feel his pain. There is no sympathy nor a stirring sense of patriotism. There is just exhaustion.”
