‘Jab Tu Sajan’, the first song from R Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s May-December romance Aap Jaisa Koi, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. Crooned by the inimitable Mohit Chauhan, the love song has been composed by Rochak Kohli with lyrics by Gurpreet Saini.
The music video shows Madhavan’s Shrirenu, a reserved Sanskrit teacher, falling in love with Madhu (Fatima), a spirited French instructor. We see Madhavan going about his daily chores but with a dreaminess. There is soft lighting in the video expressing the tenderness of new love between Shrirenu and Madhu.
Talking about the song Mohit Chauhan said, “This song isn’t about dramatic declarations—it’s about the kind of love that unfolds quietly, the kind that feels like it’s always been there. There’s tenderness in it, a lived-in quality that’s rare to find.”
R Madhavan added, "This is the song I’ve been most excited about in a long time. It’s not a one-time listen—it takes over your soul. I’ve had the fortune of some timeless tracks, and Jab Tu Sajan is right up there. Mohit’s voice brings such sincerity and ease—it lingers long after it ends. There’s a quiet magic in the way he captures emotion.”
“The moment I heard ‘Jab Tu Sajan’, I felt an instant connection. It’s one of those songs that stays with you—soft, honest, and deeply real,” said Fatima.
Aap Jaisa Koi has been directed by Vivek Soni who previously helmed the romantic-comedy Meenakshi Sundareshwar (2021) for Netflix. It has been backed by Dharma Productions. The film will start streaming on Netflix from July 11.
