The teaser of Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming action-thriller Maalik was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. The film is written by Jyotsna Nath along with director Pulkit, who is known for helming Bhumi Pednekar's Bhakshak (2024).
The teaser begins with a voiceover of Rajkummar as we see him from behind holding a gun. He says, “There are two types of people in the world. Those who shed their sweat to earn their bread and those who shed their blood and sweat to snatch their bread.” This is followed up with a visual of him beating a person and pulling the body along a road. The story is set in 1988 in Allahabad where Rajkummar’s character seems to have risen to the top through violent means. “I know I am not born a Maalik (Master), but I can become one,” he says.
The film is shot by Anuj Rakesh Dhawan and edited by Zubin Sheikh. It features music by Sachin-Jigar and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya with a background score by Ketan Sodha.
Produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, the film is set to be released in theatres on July 11.
