Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par is having a steady run at the box-office since its release. The film has earned Rs 142.55 crore in two weeks, as per Sacnilk.
On Friday, the comedy-drama earned Rs 2.4 crore and saw a rise on Saturday, as it minted Rs 4.75 crore (early estimates). Before the film’s release Aamir had announced that it will not be releasing on any OTT platforms.
Owing to the film’s continuing success, a special screening of the film was organised by multiplex exhibitors in Mumbai where Aamir was honoured.
Directed by RS Prasanna, the film also stars Genelia D’Souza, and ten debutant actors, namely Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The film had mixed reception from the critics. Our review of the film read: “Sitaare Zameen Par has its heart in the right place but it often wears it on its sleeve. It becomes didactic, spelling out lessons to the viewer rather than letting them make a journey of their own. It is too eager to reverberate with the masses, so desperate for a group hug that it often overlooks the intimacy of just holding hands.”
