Actor Randeep Hooda will soon be collaborating with his Extraction (2020) director Sam Hargrave for another actioner. The film, titled Matchbox, will be headlined by Hollywood actor John Cena and will also star Teyonah Parris of The Marvels (2023) fame. It will also feature Jessica Biel and Sam Richardson.
Sam is directing the project from a screenplay by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper for Apple Original Films.
The live-action film, based on toy company Mattel’s die-cast matchbox toy vehicle line, follows a group of childhood friends who must work together to stop an impending worldwide disaster and rediscover their friendship along the way.
The film, the production of which is underway in Budapest, will now have Randeep join the rest of the cast and production team. In a statement, Randeep shared, "Excited to be working with Sam again. We had a great time on our first collaboration with Extraction. Sam is a master of high-octane storytelling and action. Glad to be joining the team in Budapest”.
Matchbox is being produced by Mattel Films and Skydance.
