Raise the decibel levels. The trailer for the Vicky Kaushal headliner Chhaava was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. In the film, Vicky essays the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's first born child Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The Laxman Utekar directorial also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Sambhaji's wife Rani Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna as the Maratha warrior's nemesis Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
After the demise of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, threat of a Mughal takeover is looming over the Maratha Empire. "Lion might have gone away but his cub is still prowling in the jungle," says Vicky as he is introduced as Shivaji's eldest son Sambhaji. Vicky can be seen slicing enemies in war scenes. He slams an enemy on his back and then screams, "Hum shor nahi karte, shikar karte hai (We don't make noise, we hunt)." In subsequent scenes Vicky can be seen engaging in guerrilla warfare, letting out war cries. In a sequence he is also seen taking on a lion. Akshaye Khanna is introduced as the scheming Aurangzeb while Rashmika Mandanna plays the graceful Yesubai.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, Chhaava is slated to release on February 14.
