The trailer of the upcoming docu-drama The Roshans was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. Directed by Shashi Ranjan, the four-part series tells the story of Hrithik Roshan’s film family right from his grandfather, musician Roshan Lal Nagrath to his father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and uncle, music composer Rajesh Roshan.
The trailer begins with Hrithik playing an old song of his grandfather and recounting how his first name became their surname. It features interviews with other Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vicky Kaushal, Javed Akhtar and others as they share their experience of working with the Roshans.
At the trailer launch, Hrithik talked about how he was embarrassed when his father first told him about making the documentary. “I don’t like attention. But then I realised that this is not about me, but about the legacy of my family, right from my grandfather to my father and uncle. It is a celebration of our history which is entwined with the history of Indian cinema. I realized that the story can be an inspiration for others.”
The series is edited by Geeta Singh and shot by Arvind K. Produced by Rakesh Roshan and Shashi Ranjan, it will be released on January 17 on Netflix.
