Akshay Kumar took to Instagram on Monday to write a heartfelt note for his niece Simar Bhatia, who is set to make her Bollywood debut with Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis. It also stars Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda.

Akshay shared a newspaper clipping and wrote, “I remember the first time I saw my photo on the cover of the newspaper. I thought that’s the ultimate happiness. But today I know the happiness of seeing your child’s photo here beats everything. I wish my mom was here today and she would have said ‘Simar puttar Tu tah Kamaal hai’. Bless you my baby Simar Bhatia, the sky is yours.”

According to a Times Now report, Simar plays the love interest of Agastya in the war-drama, which is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a Param Vir Chakra recipient. Arun Khetarpal was killed in action in the Battle of Basantar during the Indo-Pak of 1971. He was 21 years old.

More details from the film awaited.

Meanwhile, Akshay will be seen next in the aerial-actioner Sky Force, which is set to be released in theatres on January 24.
