Shahid Kapoor took to social media on Wednesday to share the first motion poster from his upcoming action-drama Deva. Helmed by acclaimed Malayalam director Rosshan Andrrews, the film also stars Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in pivotal roles.
The poster shows Shahid dressed in a white shirt, sporting shades and having a buzz-cut hairstyle. He has a menacingly mischievous look on his face as he smokes a cigarette. Behind, there is an artwork of Amitabh Bachchan’s character Vijay from Deewaar (1975), suggesting that the titular character of Deva will be a version of the iconic Salim-Javed rebel.
The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Zee Studios. It is written by Hussain Dalal (2 States, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Arshad Syed (Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Student of the Year 2) and Sumit Arora (Jawan, Chandu Champion).
Deva will be released in theatres on January 31. It was earlier set to be released on February 14, 2025.
Shahid was previously seen in the romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which also starred Kriti Sanon.
