The trailer of upcoming series Dupahiya was unveiled by the makers on Monday. Written by Chirag Garg and Avinash Dwivedi and directed by Sonam Nair, the series stars Gajraj Rao, Sparsh Shrivastava, Renuka Shahane, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Yashpal Sharma and Komal Kushwaha.
The trailer tells the story of a village in Bihar, which has been declared ‘crime-free’. A wedding is set to take place where the to-be groom demands a motorbike as a wedding gift. The bride’s father, played by Gajraj, gives the bike. However, it gets stolen one night, causing a distress to both the families, who are caught in a conflict as they cannot issue a police complaint thinking of damaging the village reputation. The series has a quirky feeling to it with Renuka playing the village head, ordering people to catch the thief and save the wedding.
The series is created by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani, who also serve as executive producers. It is produced by Bombay Film Cartel and will be released on Prime Video on March 7.
