Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, Ananya Panday’s previously announced period-film is now titled Kesari Chapter 2 and will be released on April 18, as shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. It was earlier set to be released on March 14. The film is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi.
Taking to X, Taran shared the update about the film.
It is adapted from the book The Case that Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The book is about one of the longest trials in history, about a defamation case filed by Sir Michael O’Dwyer, the architect of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, against C. Sankaran Nair over a book the latter published detailing the atrocities of the British Raj in Punjab.
The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions along with Leo Media Collective and Cape of Good Films.
Akshay was recently seen in the aerial-actioner Sky Force, while Madhavan starred in the ZEE5 release Hisaab Barabar. Ananya’s last film was Vikramaditya Motwane’s CTRL.
