Sky Force actor Veer Pahariya took to social media on Tuesday to issue an apology to stand-up comedian Pranit More, who got assaulted recently for joking about the actor. Pranit was assaulted after his recent show in Maharashtra’s Solapur by a bunch of men who threatened him not to joke about Veer.

Pranit’s team took to social media on Tuesday to issue a statement about the incident and wrote that after Pranit’s show in Solapur on February 2, he stayed back to meet with fans. After some time, a group of 10-12 men approached him and started to assault and threaten him.

“They brutally attacked him—punching him and kicking him repeatedly, leaving him injured. The leader of this attack was Tanveer Shaikh, and his gang made it clear why they were doing this. They wanted to silence Pranit for making jokes about Bollywood debutante Veer Pahariya. One of them even threatened, ‘Agli baar Veer Pahariya baba pe joke maarke dikha! (Try making a joke on Veer next time),’” read the statement.

Pranit has lodged an online complaint with Mumbai police, requesting them to take action after the local police didn’t send help. The post quickly became viral, with other comedians coming in support of Pranit.

After this, Veer took to his Instagram stories and wrote, “I am truly shocked and saddened by what happened to Comedian Pranit More. I want to make it clear – I had no involvement in this, and I strongly condemn any form of violence. As someone who has always taken trolling in stride, laughed along with it, and shown love even to my critics, I would never encourage or support harm towards anyone, let alone someone from the same creative fraternity.”

He ended the note saying, “To Pranit and his fans – I am deeply sorry that this happened. No one deserves this. I will personally ensure that whoever was responsible is held accountable. My sincerest apologies again.”
