Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, the Japanese-Indian animation film from 1993 that hit theatres recently in 4K, will be screened on February 15 at the Parliament, its distributor Geek Pictures revealed on Sunday. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, MPs, and other cultural representatives will attend it. Gadar 2 and Rocketry: The Nambi Effect are among the other films to have a special screening at the Parliament in the recent past.
Geek Pictures co-founder stated, "We are deeply honoured by this gesture from the Parliament of India. It is a privilege to see our work being recognised at such a prestigious level. This screening is not just a showcase of a film but a celebration of our rich heritage and the timeless story of the Ramayana, which continues to inspire and guide us."
Yugo Sako, Koichi Sasaki, and Ram Mohan directed the film, with V Vijayendra Prasad serving as a creative director. The film's Hindi iteration features the voices of Arun Govil (Ram), Amrish Puri (Raavan), and Namrata Sawhney (Sita), as well as a voiceover by Shatrughan Sinha.
While Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama premiered at IFFI in 1993, it was banned from a theatrical release back then.
