There has been plenty of discourse around Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's career of late, as the actor has not starred in a film since her role in Mani Ratnam's 2023 drama Ponniyin Selvan Part II and her public appearances have also come down. Recently, Aishwarya spoke about what it means to navigate personal life and professional life and addressed how the industry often describes her decision to star in select films as "comebacks". Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Aishwarya said that she does not "believe in such terminologies." She added, "At the end of the day, once an artist, always an artist. That is the way I view our craft and how I view our industry and audiences always validate that perspective."
The actor also expressed her gratitude to the audience from all over the world for "being so supportive and really extending their love and being my strength."
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been focusing on her life as a mother and her family life ever since 2018's Fanney Khan. After the 2018 drama, she appeared only in the two Ponniyin Selvan films, released in 2022 and 2023, respectively. She received much critical appreciation for her performance as Queen Nandini in Mani Ratnam's epic adaptation of Kalki's novel of the same name.
