Kartik Aaryan will be teaming up with Chak De! India (2007) and Ab Tak Chappan (2004) director Shimit Amin for Captain India, as per a report. The film will mark Shimit’s return to direction for a theatrical film after 16 years. His last big screen release was Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009).
Earlier the film's poster was shared by the makers and it was supposed to be directed by Hansal Mehta.
As per a source quoted by Pinkvilla, “Kartik Aaryan and Shimit Amin have been in talks for the last year, jamming on multiple subjects to explore a potential collaboration. That’s when Kartik introduced Shimit to the world of Captain India, and the filmmaker found it to be a fascinating story.”
The film is written and produced by Harman Baweja.
“Shimit has worked out a tight screenplay for Captain India, and is all set to take it on floors with Kartik Aaryan in the first half of 2026. When the filmmaker narrated the story to Kartik, the actor too was bowled over by the script. The duo is planning to shoot for Captain India in India and Morocco. In-fact, a team has already completed the recce in Morocco,” added the source.
As per the report, Captain India will feature Kartik as an Airforce Pilot and is set against the backdrop of a true story. The makers are aiming to shoot in the window of March to July, and will try to bring it on the big screen in the first half of 2027.
Kartik has multiple projects in the pipeline. He will be seen alongside Sreeleela in the untitled musical romance-drama by Anurag Basu. He is also doing Fukrey director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s Naagzilla. Kartik and Ananya Panday will also pair-up for the second time in Tu Meri Main tera, Main Tera Tu Meri.
