After reports suggested that Aamir Khan's production company is distributing the Rajinikanth film Coolie, in which he has a cameo, in North India, the AKP team denied these claims.
Aamir Khan Productions clarified in a statement that neither Aamir nor his team is involved in the distribution activities of Coolie, and the actor has not made any calls to exhibitors and distributors regarding the same. The letter went on to state that his cameo in Coolie is purely out of respect for and a bond with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth.
The clarification comes in the wake of reports that claimed the actor's team personally reached out to PVR-Inox head Ajay Bijli, requesting additional shows for Coolie in North India. The film is releasing in Hindi as Coolie: The Powerhouse.
Aamir Khan, who is collaborating with Rajinikanth 29 years after Aatank Hi Aatank, recently tasted success with Sitaare Zameen Par, which performed well both at the box office and in its digital release on YouTube.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under his Sun Pictures banner, apart from Aamir, who plays Dahaa, Coolie boasts a star-studded ensemble consisting of Nagarjuna as Simon, Sathyaraj as Rajasekar, Upendra as Kaleesha, Shruti Haasan as Preethi, and Soubin Shahir as Dayal.
The rest of the technical crew consists of cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, editing by Philomin Raj, and stunts by Anbariv. The film's dialogues are written by Lokesh and Chandhru Anbazhagan, who have also contributed to the additional screenplay.
Coolie is releasing on August 14 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
