
Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood, and Bhumi Pednekar expressed their grief over the recent cloudburst tragedy in Uttarakhand which triggered flash floods in the Dharali region. The cloudburst has left a trail of destruction with four people dead and many more affected, causing a large scale destruction to homes and property.
Sara, who made her film debut with Kedarnath (2018), wrote on Instagram, “My heart goes out to everyone impacted by the incident in Uttarakhand. Praying for safety, strength and healing for all.” She also shared critical emergency contact numbers issued by the Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Centre, amplifying official resources to aid rescue and relief efforts.
Sonu said that he was heartbroken after hearing of the tragedy. “Prayers for every life affected. It’s time the nation comes together — while the govt does its part, we as individuals must stand up for every soul who lost a home, a living, a life.”
Bhumi wrote a long note on Instagram stories and said, “Forests being cut down for unsustainable levels of development. Zero thought to balance. Every monsoon these states go through incredible amounts of devastation due to floods. Some visuals are so scary. My heart goes out to those that have to deal with this. We are all nothing in front of the wrath of nature. Learn.”
Actor and dancer Raghav Juyal, who hails from Uttarakhand, wrote on social media, “Prayers” with folded hand emoji. He also shared another video of construction work in the area and said, “Stop this. It’s already too late.”
Two cloudburst incidents were reported in the region, one in Dharali and another in the Sukhi Top area. Dharali bore the brunt of the damage and also experienced mudslides and further flash flooding.
