Monali Thakur unveiled her new song ‘Ek Baar Phir’ on Wednesday. Exploring the themes of betrayal, heartbreak, and abuse, the song is inspired by Monali’s personal journey. Monali has composed and sung the song along with starring in the music video.

The video begins with her voiceover "When someone close to you hurts and betrays you, your heart weeps a thousand tears, and you wonder, 'Why did this happen with me?' Living with the pain is not easy. The broken heart will mend again. However much the world hurts you, one can't accept defeat.” There are visuals which feature her lying in the bath tub, travelling in the car and an episode where she is being beaten up by a man. The song is melodious, heart-touching, and emotionally rich, as it dives deep into the themes of love, resilience, trauma, and the unbreakable bond of family.

Speaking about it, Monali said in a statement, “This song is deeply personal to me, it draws from the journey I’ve been on over the past few years. What many don’t know is how challenging those years truly were. I had lost myself trying to cope with loss and trauma, and was struggling to find hope. It’s the song of my journey in finding that hope and love again and finding the strength to survive all the challenges of life and not giving up. That hope & love became my anchor, my strength, and ultimately, the heart of this song."

Monali is known for being the voice behind some impactful songs like ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’, for which she won a National Award and ‘Sawaar Loon’. She made her playback singing debut with the song ‘Kubool Kar Le’ from Salman Khan’s Jaan-E-Mann which was composed by Anu Malik. Her last song release was ‘Haan Ke Haan’ from the film Maharaj. She has also sung many songs in Bengali.

Monali has also briefly acted in films, making her Hindi film debut with Nagesh Kukunoor's Lakshmi (2014). She also played a small role in Aamir Khan's PK (2014).
