Jackie Shroff took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a montage video from his 1993 actioner Khal Nayak as it completed 32 years. Directed by Subhash Ghai, Khal Nayak also starred Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Rakhee Gulzar in pivotal roles.

In the film, Jackie plays Inspector Ram Kumar Singh who catches the deadly criminal Ballu played by Sanjay. However, his image is tainted when Ballu escapes from prison. His fiancée, Ganga (Madhuri) decides to trap Ballu but things become complicated when Ballu falls in love with Ganga. The film is noted for its hard-hitting scenes, and powerful performances from the lead. It also featured a memorable music album with timeless classics like ‘Khal Nayak Hoon Main’ and ‘Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai’ composed by Laxmikant–Pyarelal with lyrics by Anand Bakshi.

In the clips shared by Jackie, he is seen as Ram, wearing a tight suit and interrogating Ballu, who declares him as the Khalnayak (antagonist). It also briefly features a song sequence with Madhuri.

Khal Nayak turned out to be a major commercial success and has become part of popular culture since then, especially for Sanjay’s enigmatic character. It ranked as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year after David Dhawan’s Aankhen. It was remade in Telugu as Khaidi No. 1 (1994), in Tamil as Hero (1994) and in Punjabi as Billa (2002).

On the work front, Jackie was recently seen in the action-thriller web-series Hunter 2, alongside Suniel Shetty. He also played a pivotal role of an army man in Anupam Kher’s second directorial, Tanvi The Great. Jackie thanked Anupam for casting him in the film. “I was teary-eyed when he first called me and played a song. Usually, I don't cry in front of anyone, but after hearing the song, my eyes were filled with tears. It's an honour to be on this stage with such a fantastic cast," he said at the film’s trailer launch.

Next up, Jackie has Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Mai Tera, Mai Tera Tu Meri in the pipeline.
