Vipin Sharma plays the father of Neelesh, played by Siddhant Chaturvedi in the recently released Dhadak 2. His character cross dresses as a woman and the actor delivers a layered performance. He spoke about the role and said that it was a familiar territory for him.

He said, “The compliments I am getting for Dhadak 2 from both the critics and audiences have taken me by surprise! The film is about discrimination! The struggles of the lower caste citizens being marginalised. My role in the film represents that struggle. I am deeply connected to those feelings having grown up in a similar environment. I remember it took me almost three hours to muster enough courage to enter the Doordarshan building in Delhi just to find out what was the process of hosting a 10 min programme on Yuva Vani! I was that nervous.”

Vipin added, “The role in Dhadak 2 is a very familiar territory! I didn’t have to do any research. I am extremely fortunate that I always strike a chord with such unique filmmakers bringing important narratives to screen! Having been a part of some of the most important films made in Hindi cinema over the last decade has been a huge privilege! I am humbled and honored! Thanks to all who trust me with such responsibilities.”

Anurag Kashyap calls Dhadak 2 ‘a punch in the gut’: ‘This is what mainstream cinema was meant to be’

Dhadak 2 is adapted from the Tamil film, Pariyerum Perumal and is helmed by Shazia Iqbal in her feature film directorial debut. Also starring Triptii Dimri, Saurabh Sachdeva, Zakir Hussain, and Harish Khanna, the film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

CE’s review of the film read, “Dhadak 2 is miles ahead of its predecessor Dhadak (2018) which was a watered-down remake of the Marathi film Sairat (2016). It is a momentous start for the mainstream Hindi film, a necessary plunge into the caste dynamics of love stories, which have been the USP of Bollywood for decades. But it can go only as deep. In some ways the film repairs the cracks in the original, but all its good parts are still borrowed.”
