The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s upcoming film, Costao, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. Written by Bhavesh Mandalia and Meghna Srivastava and directed by Sejal Shah (producer of Nawazuddin's The Serious Men), the film also stars Priya Bapat, Kishor Kumar Huli, Gagan Dev Riar and Hussain Dalal in pivotal roles.

The trailer introduces Nawazuddin as Costao Fernandes, a brave customs officer who is absconding in a murder case. It shows him in his younger days as he completes a sprint. It is revealed that a gold smuggling of over 1500 kgs is supposed to take place and Costao gets a tip from one of his informers about it. As he goes to catch the smugglers on his bike, he is rammed by their car. Priya plays his wife and at one point in the trailer, accuses him of not caring much about family. There are also some sequences in the courtroom where his case is being heard. The trailer ends with another character telling Costao, “The system that gave you so much power, the same system will sentence you to death.”

Costao Fernandes is a retired customs officer from Goa who has handled some high-profile gold smuggling cases in his career. In 1991, Costao had chased and fought the Alemao brothers of Goa in a gold smuggling case. The incident had led to the death of Alvernaz Alemao, the brother of former Goa Chief Minister Churchill Alemao.

The film is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Bhavesh, Sejal, Shyam Sunder and Faizuddin Siddiqui. Costao will be released on ZEE5 on May 1.
