Akshay Kumar opened up recently about doing films based on social issues and said that only a fool would criticise them. The actor was speaking at a press meet on his upcoming film Kesari Chapter 2 in Mumbai on Friday. During the conversation with the media, he was asked about receiving some criticism for starring in films based on social issues. To which, Akshay responded, “I don't think anyone has criticised these films. Only a fool would criticise such films. You see for yourself, I have made films like Pad Man, Airlift, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Kesari, and now Kesari Chapter 2... There are many such films. I've made them with a lot of heart. And if a film teaches people something or makes them understand something, I don't think anyone would criticise it.”
In Kesari Chapter 2, Akshay plays the role of lawyer and Nationalist leader C Sankaran Nair who fought a legal case against the British Empire in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. The film also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles.
It is set to be released in theatres on April 18.
