Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava gets OTT release date

Vicky Kaushal’s historical-drama Chhaava will be released on Netflix on April 11, the makers announced on Thursday. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Vineet Kumar Singh, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Neil Bhoopalam, and Diana Penty, in pivotal roles.

Vicky plays the role of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the film who fights against Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, played by Akshaye. Speaking about the film, Vicky said, “Playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was an honor beyond words and one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. His courage, resilience, and legacy are something that should reach every corner of the world. With Netflix, we’re ensuring that his story not only penetrates deeper in India, but also gets the global platform it deserves."

Producer Dinesh Vijan said in a statement, “At Maddock Films, we’re passionate about telling stories that matter; stories that leave a mark. Chhaava is not just a tale of courage, it’s a celebration of legacy, resilience, and sacrifice. After an incredible run in theatres, we’re excited to bring it to a global audience on Netflix, where the story can live on and continue to inspire viewers around the world.”

Chhaava did a massive business at the box-office after being released in theatres on February 14. Since then, it has collected Rs 599 crore (India net) with the worldwide collection of Rs 804.85 crore, as per Sacnilk. The film is still running in theatres.
