Hansal Mehta opened up recently about Kangana Ranaut and said that he is fond of her even though they fight. He said that Kangana can create magic on screen with her presence. The director has worked with the actor on the 2017 crime-drama Simran.
Speaking to Indian Express during a conversation, Hansal said, “I am very fond of her. I cannot describe… the camera loves her. Outside the Lok Sabha, camera loves her. Even she is not aware what magic she can create in front of the camera. We did not get along, humari nahi bani, hota hai. We do fight, but I am fond of her. Very fond of her. It is not a judgement on the other person.”
He added, “The process of making the film that I did with her was not very good. The process stays with you. I had to pay off debts. And it was a bit of a painful journey paying off those debts. Her fans tell me that it was the best film you have made.”
In an earlier conversation with The Mashable, Hansal had recounted the experience of working with Kangana on Simran, saying that she took over the edit. “She did not take over the edit, to be fair to her, but there was nothing to take over to edit. We only had the material that she had shot.”
Recently, Hansal had took to X to question the incident where Kangana’s office was demolished in 2020. “Since people are talking I wanted to know how the incident with Kunal Kamra, the venue and the part demolition at Kangana’s home are similar or different,” he had written.
Kangana gave a strong worded response saying, “It seems your insecurity and mediocrity has not only made you bitter and stupid but it had blinded you as well, it’s not some third-class series or atrocious films that you make, don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in the matters related to my ordeals, stay out of it.”
On the work front, Kangana was last seen in the political-drama Emergency. Hansal’s last directorial was the Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders.
