Ranbir Kapoor is set to headline Dhoom 4, according to a report in Pinkvilla. It will mark his 25th film as an actor and the project will be a reboot in the series and is currently under development by Yash Raj Films’ Aditya Chopra. Reportedly, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will not reprise their roles in the film.

A source informed Pinkvilla, “The discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest to be a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea, and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise. Adi Chopra feels that RK is the ideal choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy.”

None of the previous actors from the franchise will return to the new film. “Two big heroes from the younger generation will come on board to play the duo of cop buddies in Dhoom 4. Now that the core story-board is locked, the team will proceed to the casting stage. Dhoom 4 will not just be the biggest Dhoom film, but also a tentpole feature film of global standard from Indian Cinema,” said the report.

Dhoom 3 starred Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek and Uday in pivotal roles. It released in 2013 and turned out to be a success at the box-office. The action-thriller franchise has been successful since the first part came in 2004 and starred John Abraham, Esha Deol among others. The second part had Hrithik Roshan playing the antagonist joined by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bipasha Basu.
