Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad collects Rs 15.75 crore, surpasses lifetime collection of its original run

Sohum Shah’s horror-drama Tumbbad has surpassed the lifetime collection of its original run in 2018. It made Rs 15.75 crore in 8 days since its re-release, according to Sacnilk. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve with Anand Gandhi serving as the creative director, Tumbbad also starred Jyoti Malshe, Rudra Soni, Madhav Hari, Anita Date-Kelkar and Ronjini Chakraborty in pivotal roles.

The film did a first week collection of Rs 13.15 crore, with an opening weekend collection of Rs 7.25 crore. As per estimates, the film is expected to collected Rs 2.50-2.75 crore on Friday, which was National Cinema Day, where the ticket prices were lower and hence more people went in to see the film.

In 2018, the film had a total box-office run of 63 days in which it earned Rs 13.50 crore. It was declared as a box-office flop even after garnering critical acclaim for its stunning visuals, storyline and performances.

Its sequel was announced recently by Sohum who has produced it with Anand L Rai, Anand Gandhi, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah.
