Director Kiran Rao on Friday said that she is open to a sequel to her widely acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies.
While speaking at the Mumbai Dialogues event organised by The New Indian Express, when asked if a sequel is on the cards, Kiran said, "Well, if someone writes a good one, I would love to make it."
"I am really close to the characters and would want to know what happens with them," she added.
Kiran, however, hasn't commissioned the sequel yet. She said, "For now, I want to spread my wings and work on something else."
Directed by Kiran and written by Sneha Desai based on a story by Biplab Goswami, Laapataa Ladies features Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Chhaya Kadam. Presented by Jio Studios, the film is produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film had its theatrical release in March and is now streaming on Netflix.
