After having a lukewarm opening, Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer The Buckingham Murders has picked up at the box office on the second day of its release. As per industry tracker Sacnilk. com, the film had made Rs 1.15 crore on Day 1. The collection has rose to Rs 1.90 crore on Saturday. The total collection of the Hansal Mehta directorial now stands at Rs 3.05 crore.

As per the makers, however, the film made Rs 1.62 crore on Friday, followed by a rise to Rs 2.41 crore on Saturday, taking its total collection to Rs 4.03 crore.

Also, compared to Friday (first day of release), The Buckingham Murders has also seen a spike in its occupancy from 9.99 per cent to 15.70 per cent. The number of screens in which it is released has also slightly gone up. The maximum number of screens given to the film is in Delhi NCR at 371, followed by 247 in Mumbai. Despite having been released on just 6 screens in Chennai, the movie saw the highest occupancy in that state at 72.50 per cent. Bengaluru has the next highest occupancy of 37.25 per cent with the film released in just 30 screens.

Pune and Hyderabad saw better occupancy as compared to Mumbai and Delhi where the film has released in maximum number of screens. Despite releasing in close to 100 screens, The Buckingham Murders has seen its lowest occupancy in Surat at 9.25 per cent.

The movie is a Mahana Films and TBM Films production, presented by Balaji Telefilms, and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Our review of the film read: “More than a thriller, The Buckingham Murders is a portrait of southeast Asians in a colonial country. Those who seek the modernity of life but not necessarily of thought. The film in its setting and mood can feel borrowed and patched up from international small-town thrillers. Jaspreet’s character takes its cue from Kate Winslet’s Marianne Sheehan from the HBO series Mare of Easttown (2021). I was reminded of Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River (2003) when the film got into the dynamics and the rifts inside a community. But there was something about Hansal Mehta’s assured direction that swept me into the narrative. The Buckingham Murders doesn’t feel like an Indian film but it certainly is for them.”
