The trailer for Reema Kagti’s Superboys of Malegaon, starring Adarsh Gourav, Shashank Arora, and Vineet Kumar Singh in the lead roles, was unveiled by the makers on Friday. The film written by Varun Grover is inspired from the 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, which was made by Faiza Ahmed Khan. It also stars Anuj Singh Duhan, Saqib Ayub, Pallav Singgh, Manjiri Pupala, and Muskkaan Jaferi in pivotal roles.

The trailer introduces Adarsh as Nasir, a youngster living in the small town of Malegaon with dreams of making films. He speaks to his friends, played by Vineet and Shashank, on how to proceed with his ideas. The trailer features some glimpses of him using a digital camera and creating makeshift sets in order to shoot the scenes. According to the makers, “The film is a poignant yet uplifting take on both filmmaking and friendship - and what happens when those two worlds collide.”

It is set to have its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival on September 13. Besides that, it will also be shown at the 68th BFI London Film Festival, which will take place from October 9 to 20. The film will be showcased at the festival on October 10 at the Vue West End and on October 12 at the historic Curzon Soho cinema.

Superboys of Malegaon is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti with Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani and Angad Dev Singh serving as co-producers. It is set to be released in theatres in January next year.
