Shah Rukh Khan becomes highest tax-paying celebrity; Vijay stands second

Shah Rukh Khan has become the highest taxpayer among all Indian celebrities in 2024, as per a report in Fortune India. The Jawan actor paid Rs 92 crore in taxes this year and is followed by Tamil actor Vijay, who paid Rs 80 crore. Salman Khan stands at third position with Rs 75 crore paid in taxes, while Amitabh Bachchan is at no. 4 with Rs 71 crore in tax contribution.

Cricketer Virat Kohli, who secured the fifth spot, paid Rs 66 crore as tax. He was followed by Ajay Devgn, at sixth spot, who paid a tax of Rs 42 crore. While MS Dhoni, in the seventh spot, paid a tax of Rs 38 crore, Ranbir Kapoor, at eighth spot, made a tax payment of Rs 36 crore. Both Hrithik Roshan and Sachin Tendulkar gave Rs 28 crore as tax.

Several other celebrities who made it to the top 20 list of taxpayers are--Kapil Sharma (Rs 26 crore), Sourav Ganguly (Rs 23 crore), Kareena Kapoor (Rs 20 crore), Shahid Kapoor (Rs 14 crore), Hardik Pandya (Rs 13 crore), and Kiara Advani (Rs 12 crore). Both Mohanlal and Allu Arjun paid Rs 14 crore as tax. Pankaj Tripathi and Katrina Kaif paid Rs 11 crore tax each this year.

Shah Rukh has had a stupendous 2023 with two blockbusters Pathaan and Jawan. Vijay has a recent release with GOAT while Salman is gearing up for his next Sikandar, to be helmed by A.R. Murugadoss.
