A second trailer of Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s spy-thriller Citadel: Honey Bunny was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. Helmed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who have written it with Sita R. Menon, the series is set in the 90s and also stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majmundar in pivotal roles.
While the trailer that was released earlier was filled with high-octane action sequences, the second one gives a glimpse into the emotional dynamics between Honey and Bunny, played by Samantha and Varun respectively. Honey has a conversation with her daughter, Nadia, about how she met Bunny. Nadia grows up to become Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ character in the US version of Citadel. Later, Bunny meets Nadia for the first time, telling her that he will always save her from everything. Honey and Bunny face off at one point, with the former having an upper hand as she remarks, “You know I am better than you.” It ends with a sleek hand combat scene that is shot over blue light and fogs.
Speaking earlier about the show, creators Raj and DK said, “Citadel: Honey Bunny is a significant project for us as it has given us the opportunity to be part of a larger, unprecedented world of spies and espionage that has never been done or even attempted before.”
Citadel: Honey Bunny is an Indian-spin off of the US’s Citadel, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka alongside Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville. The Italian version Citadel: Diana also released on Prime Video recently on October 10.
