It's twin trouble as Kajol's cop faces off Kriti Sanon in a double role. The trailer of Do Patti, the latest pulpy-thriller from the pen of Kanika Dhillon, was unveiled by the makers on Monday. The film also marks the Hindi film debut of television star Shaheer Sheikh. It also marks the feature film directorial debut for ad filmmaker Shashanka Chaturvedi aka Bob.
The high-stakes drama reunites Kriti and Kajol after Dilwale (2015).
The trailer introduces us to Kajol, riding an Enfield, in her first role as a policewoman. We are then shown a meek Sowmya (Kriti) whose romance is blooming with the dreamy Dhruv (Shaheer). Their tranquil life in the hills turns upside down when Sowmya’s shrewd twin sister Shailee (also played by Kriti) enters the frame. Shailee soon starts seducing Dhruv. Going further an attempt to murder charge is levied on him. Twists and turns galore as Kajol’s cop Vidya unravels the mystery.
Speaking about her role at the trailer launch, Kajol said, “As an actor, I have always looked forward to roles that allow me to connect with my audience. This is the first time I play a police officer. I can't wait for my fans to see me in this new avatar.”
Do Patti is also the first project from the house of Kriti’s Blue Butterfly Films and Kanika’s Kathha Pictures.
Expressing her excitement, Kriti shared, “Do Patti is incredibly special to me, not just because it's my first film as a producer, but also because it allowed me to explore my own duality on-screen.”
Kanika added, "Collaborating with two powerhouse performers - Kriti and Kajol was an absolute delight. I am glad that this powerful tale of sibling rivalry, and redemption with a gut-wrenching message can be enjoyed by audiences across the world.”
The film will release on October 25 on Netflix.
