On the tenth release anniversary of Vishal Bhardwaj’s hard-hitting 2014 film Haider, Tabu, who played the role of Shahid Kapoor’s mother Ghazala in the film, took to Instagram to acknowledge the day.
Posting the film’s trailer, Tabu wrote, “Haider Oct 2, 2014. A decade of all that followed.. Thank you.”
Apart from Tabu and Shahid, Haider had a noteworthy cast of Kay Kay Menon, the late Irrfan Khan, and Shraddha Kapoor, among others.
Set against the Kashmir conflict in 1995, the film, based on the play Hamlet, was the third segment in Vishal’s Shakespear trilogy, which consists of Maqbool (2003) based on Macbeth and Omkara (2006) based on Othello.
The film won five national awards including Best Music Direction and Best Screenplay (Dialogues). It also won five Filmfare awards including Best Actor (Shahid Kapoor), Best Supporting Actor (Kay Kay Menon) and Best Supporting Actress (Tabu).
