Ranbir Kapoor opened up recently about starring in Animal, a film that has been criticised for its glorification of violence on screen, and said that it is important for him to also dabble in different genres as an actor.
During a conversation with Rahul Rawail at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, a person in the audience, reflected on the necessity to be responsible while making films and not glorifying violent characters. To this, Ranbir responded, “I completely agree with your opinion. As an actor, it is our responsibility to bring movies that bring a positive change to society. Having said that, I am an actor; it’s very important that I also dabble in different genres and different characters and play varied roles. But what you are saying is absolutely correct. We have to be more responsible towards the kind of films we make."
Animal was released in December last year and received flak for its misogynistic portrayal and hyper-violent scenes.
Ranbir will be seen next in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. It is set to be released in theatres in March 2026.
