David Dhawan’s comedy-drama Biwi No. 1 will be re-released in theatres on November 29, the makers announced on Thursday. A new trailer of the film was unveiled by the makers. Starring Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Tabu, Sushmita Sen with special appearances by Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan, the film was released originally in May 1999. It is produced by Vashi Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment.
The trailer features some scenes from the film where Prem (Salman) is married to Pooja (Karisma Kapoor) but gets into an extramarital affair with Rupali (Sushmita) one day and starts living with her. The trailer gives a glimpse into some of its slapstick comedy sequences and catchy songs.
Speaking of the re-release, David said in a statement, “Audiences still talk about the film’s humor and the joy it brought to families. Comedy films are best enjoyed when watched in a group and on the big screen. Re-releasing Biwi No. 1 will give fans a chance to celebrate those memories and introduce new viewers.”
Producer Vashu Bhagnani added, “Biwi No. 1 holds a special place in our hearts. The movie connected with audiences against all odds and won the hearts of millions. Bringing it back to the big screen gives us a chance to relive the laughter and fun, especially with its amazing star cast. The magic of this film is timeless, and we want every cinegoer to remember the joy of laughter.”
Biwi No. 1 is a remake of the 1995 Tamil film Sathi Leelavathi. Upon release, it turned out to be a success at the box-office, becoming the second-highest grossing film of 1999.
