

The trailer of Vikrant Massey’s The Sabarmati Report was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles.
The trailer introduces Vikrant as an alcoholic, chainsmoker Hindi journalist, Samar Kumar, who is trying to make ends meet. He encounters the Sabarmati Train incident which took place in 2002 and has disagreements with Ridhi Dogra, who plays an English TV journalist. Samar then teams up with Raashii‘s character to investigate what caused the firing on the train. The trailer is filled with some dramatic dialogues as it claims to be based on “facts”.
The film will be Vikrant’s first theatrical release since 12th Fail. He was recently seen in the role of a psychopathic serial killer in Netflix's Sector 36.
At the trailer launch, Vikrant spoke about his collaboration with Ektaa and said, "Ektaa ma’am gave me my first break in movies and now this is our 8th project together. It is all the more special because of that."
He spoke of the film and said, "Along with the story, I was given some research material of the real-story. There are so many people I know who are not aware of the incident. The information is all out there for everyone to see but do we want to read, know, understand?"
The film revolves around the death of karsevaks (RSS workers) in a fire on the Sabarmati Express at the Godhra railway station in Gujarat on the morning of February 27, 2002.
It was earlier directed by Ranjan Chandel, who left the project midway citing creative differences. It is written by Avinash Singh Tomar and Arjun Bhandegaonkar with dialogues by Dheeraj.
Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan, the film is set to be released in theatres on November 15.
