The trailer of Pratik Gandhi’s Dedh Bigha Zameen was released by the makers on Thursday. Written and Directed by Pulkit, whose last release was Bhumi Pednekar’s Bhakshak, the film also stars Khushali Kumar in a pivotal role.

The trailer of the film introduces the core conflict where Pratik’s character has to arrange money for the wedding of his sister. There is an ancestral land which belongs to his father whose ownership is under question when a MLA claims it as his own. His plans of selling the land and using the money for his sister’s marriage are put to stop. Frustrated, he pledges to take up the fight against the tenets of the state that require him to prove that the land belongs to him.

The film’s release was on hold for a long time. Its shooting was completed in September 2021.

The title of the film takes inspiration from the 1953 film by Bimal Roy, Do Bigha Zameen. It is produced by Shaailesh R Singh, Suunil Jain, Hitesh Thakkar and will be released on JioCinema on May 31.
