The directorial debut of actor Anshuman Jha, Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, bagged him the Best Director Award along with actor Arjun Mathur, who got the Best Actor Award for the film at the UK-Asian Film Festival 2024. The black comedy thriller, which has been running in festivals for the past 6 months, got a standing ovation at the historic Regent Street cinema in London last Saturday.

Speaking about the importance of winning the award in London, Anshuman said in a statement, “This win feels like a full circle for it has come in the UK. The film is about Asians in the West, thereby we are thrilled on the win in London. We shot the film in the UK and have been travelling with it around the world and now to win at our British Premiere is something I am truly grateful for. Especially for Arjun because I truly feel this film is one of his finest, if not, his best performance.”

Arjun Mathur said in his statement, “I had taken the decision to pursue acting while I was in London in the year 2000. So, winning this award here feels cathartic. I want to thank Anshuman for giving me the character of Rohit and for putting the process in the forefront. We had such focussed fun during this film. And he has made exactly the film he narrated to me on his first narration.”

The film had its World Premiere at IFFM Australia, its North American Premiere at CSAFF Chicago, its Canadian Premiere at ISAFF Vancouver, its European Premiere at Razor Reel Film festival and its Indian Premiere at WENCH and Red Lorry.

It follows the story of four Indians living in London, who meet for dinner one night. Arjun Mathur's character, Rohit, tells his guests that there's a dead body in the trunk, leading to a chaotic impact on their night.

The film also features Zoha Rahman, Paresh Pahuja and Tanmay Dhanania in pivotal roles.
