Anurag Kashyap: I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers

Anurag Kashyap put out a post on Instagram on Saturday expressing his disappointment over helping newcomers make their film. In an angry tone, the filmmaker said strongly that he would no longer be meeting random people.

In the long post, he wrote, “I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up with mediocre things. So, now onwards, I don’t want to waste my time with meeting random people who think they are creative geniuses (sic).”

He went on to mention the rates of meeting him and added, “If someone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes, I will charge 1 lac, for half hour 2 lac and for 1 hour 5 lacs. That’s the rate. I am tired of wasting time meeting people. If you really think you can afford it, call me (sic).”

It is not clear who he was referring to in the post. He reiterated his message in the caption, where he wrote, “And I mean it. Don’t text or dm or call me. Pay and you will get time. I am not a charity and I am tired of people looking for shortcuts (sic).”

Anurag’s last theatrical release as a director was Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, which came out in 2023. He also played a negative role in the ZEE5 film Haddi (2023) alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. His latest directorial, Kennedy had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. Kennedy stars Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in pivotal roles.
