The ‘Sakal Ban’  song from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming web-series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar was released by the makers on Saturday. It is a graceful and elegant song featuring Richa Chadha, Manisha Koirala, and Aditi Rao Hydari. The series also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjida Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal in pivotal roles.

The song is a traditional composition based on lyrics by ancient poet and musician Amir Khusrow. It is sung by Raja Hasan with backing vocals by Umesh Joshi, Vijay Dhuri, Shripad Lele, Amit Padhye, Shahzad Ali. It is choreographed by Kruti Mahesh and Vijayshree Chaudhary and is set in a large gathering where women are seen performing in a celebratory state. The song starts with Richa, and others join her one by one as they dance together in harmony.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is set in pre-independent India against the backdrop of the freedom movement and is an epic saga of love, power, betrayal, struggle, and, ultimately, freedom. The series marks the debut of Bhansali on OTT. It will stream soon on Netflix.
