

Bhumi Pednekar recently spoke about content-driven films finding resonance with audiences. She spoke of the Vidhu Vinod Chopra film 12th Fail and said that it made her happy to see meaningful films doing good. Bhumi was last seen in the investigative thriller Bhakshak where she essayed the role of a journalist. It was released on Netflix on February 9.
Speaking about some recent Indian films, Bhumi said, “Content-driven films have been the toast of the industry recently and that brings me a lot of joy and a lot of hope. I owe my career, my identity to forward-thinking cinema and film-makers.”
She added, “Indian content entertaining the world is a huge milestone. For generations, content films have changed the way cinema has been made and consumed. I hope that films like Bhakshak will contribute towards the kind of films that are going to be made for years to come.”
Bhumi’s last theatrical release was the comedy-drama film Thank You for Coming, which was directed by Karan Boolani and produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. It was released in theatres on October 6 last year.
