Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk will compete to be the best dad in the upcoming comedy-drama Bad Newz, the trailer of which was unveiled by the makers on Friday. The film also stars Triptii Dimri and is directed by Anand Tiwari. It is written by Ishita Moitra and Tarun Dudeja.
The trailer takes us into the life of Saloni (Triptii), who gets pregnant but doesn’t know the identity of the father. It can either be the garrulous Akhil Chadha (Vicky) or the meek, turbaned Sikh, Gurbir (Ammy Virk). However, things take a strange turn when a doctor informs the throuple that it is a case of heteropaternal superfecundation, aka two eggs have been fertilised by two sperms, implying that now both Akhil and Gurbir are the fathers to Saloni’s unborn child. A comic battle ensues between the daddies to prove who is the ‘baap’. The trailer is filled with meta references, one even including Vicky's real-life wife and actor Katrina Kaif.
The film also features Neha Dhupia.
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Leo Media Collective, Bad Newz is the spiritual spiritual successor to the Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Good Newwz (2019) which revolved around the life of two couples whose lives intertwine due to a blunder made by a doctor during in vitro fertilization (IVF).
