Diljit Dosanjh reveals letting Karan Johar use his song ‘Lover’ for free in Rocky Aur Rani...: ‘Had he paid me, how much richer would I have become?’

Diljit Dosanjh revealed in a recent interaction with Sucharita Tyagi on her YouTube channel that he didn’t charge anything from Karan Johar for the use of his song ‘Lover,’ in Karan's 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He reasoned that he likes doing some things for free for people he has worked with.

He said in the chat, “I am not friends with anyone as such. If I have worked with someone once, and they need something, and if I can help them, then why not? If I was a doctor, I would have done his surgery for free (laughs). If one of my music producer friends does a song for me, then I sing a song for them. The only thing that matters is what you can do for someone you already know. That’s all there is.”

He added, “Even if he paid me, how much richer would I have become? He thought about it, that’s a good thing. But he isn’t short of money and I also don’t need it as much, so I said use it for free.”

The song comes at a crucial point before the interval when Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia Bhatt) exchange their homes in order to convince each other’s parents of their relationship.

Diljit was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila and will be seen next in the Punjabi film Jatt and Juliet 3.
