Taapsee Pannu recently revealed in an interview that early on in her career, she was told by people that she resembled actor Preity Zinta. After this, Taapsee said that she had to live up to the reputation.
In an interaction with cricketer Shikhar Dhawan for his chat show, Dhawan Karenge, Taapsee recalled the time when she was studying in college and started getting offers to act in Tamil and Telugu films. After working in multiple films there, she was offered Hindi films. Speaking about it, she said, “Many thought that I was a new version of Preity Zinta. That was the reason I got offers in Bollywood. She has a very positive energy, and you know it better than me because you must have had interacted with her more. I have only seen her on TV or the big screen.”
She added that she had to live up to the comparison and said, “I think the category of Preity Zinta is someone who can be lively and be with brains. I felt like I had to live up to that reputation for which they brought me into the industry. Because of her name. So, I always put in some effort to be like her.”
Taapsee was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. She will be seen next in the sequel to her 2021 film, Haseen Dillruba, titled Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba. Meanwhile, Preity Zinta recently completed the shoot of Lahore: 1947 which also stars Sunny Deol.
