Akshay Kumar has a crazy dream. The trailer of his upcoming film Sarfira was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. Also starring Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan, R. Sarath Kumar and Seema Biswas, Sarfira is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru (2020). It is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the Tamil version.

As the trailer begins, Akshay introduces himself as Veer Mhatre, hailing from a remote village. We see him helping with a funeral procession, as the voiceover informs us that he is in debt. Veer, however, also has a dream of starting an airline for the underprivileged. The trailer takes us through his journey as he knocks doors at government offices and fights red-tapism to fulfill this dream. Paresh Rawal plays Paresh Goswami, an airline tycoon. Veer approaches him for help and tells him that he wishes to make flight tickets affordable to the poor, at a price as low as Rupee 1. Paresh is dismissive. “Now toilet cleaners will sit beside us in planes?” he says. Akshay’s Veer now gears up, to fight prejudices and achieve an impossible feat.

Speaking about the film, Akshay shared, "Sarfira is not just about reaching for the skies; it's about breaking barriers, defying all odds, and believing in yourself when the world calls you crazy.”

Director Sudha Kongara added, “Working with such an incredible cast and bringing this inspiring story to life has been the incredible journey of a dream that I first saw in 2009.”

Producer and actor Suriya, who led the Tamil version, said, “I genuinely believe Sudha’s story will connect with the audience across the world as it is a common man’s tale that will inspire us to follow our dreams. I’m glad that Jyotika & I could collaborate with Vikram & Akshay Sir and actors and technicians from the South and the Hindi film industry.”

Sarfira will be released in theatres on July 12.
