Ratna Pathak Shah opened up recently about working with Anupam Kher and Paresh Rawal despite having ideological differences with them. She said that disagreeing over opinions doesn’t mean that there is a dislike of the person. The veteran actor also said that it is not her 'culture' to cancel people just because of contrary thoughts and opinions.

In an interaction with Lallantop, she said, “We all grew up at a time when two people can be friends, but can also have different ideologies. You are right in your place, I am right in mine. There’s dialogue, discussion, and even disagreement, but that doesn’t cause a rift in interpersonal relations. This is a more recent trend. This is neither our country’s culture nor I have seen anything like this before.”

She added how her parents came from different ideological points-of-views themselves. She said, “I have been born in a home where my father was from an RSS family and my mom was from a Communist family. There was constant debate and arguments at our home, still we all lived together happily. I know that disagreement with an opinion doesn’t mean dislike of a person. This is a very new phenomenon, that if you don’t agree with me then you should be cancelled. This isn’t our culture, at least it’s not my culture, nor of anyone I know.”

Despite ideological differences with Anupam and Paresh both, Ratna worked with them in the recent past. She starred in the 2021 film Hum Do Hamare Do alongside Paresh Rawal and shared the screen recently in the Netflix show Trial By Fire with Anupam Kher.

She was last seen in the film Dhak Dhak and the web-series Charlie Chopra in 2023.
