The motion poster of Bedi, a biopic on the life of India’s first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi, was released by the makers on Tuesday. The film chronicles the life of Kiran, who joined the IPS in 1972. It is written and directed by Kushaal Chawla, who has earlier made multiple short-films.
Sharing the motion picture on Instagram, the makers wrote, “Here it is! Our announcement of the Biopic Feature Film on the life of Dr. Kiran Bedi written and directed by Kushaal Chawla. Hope you enjoy watching the motion poster. Much more to come. Stay tuned! Produced by Gaurav Chawla (Dream Slate Pictures).”
Kiran was a former national junior tennis champion before she joined the force. She ran successful campaigns against drug abuse in Delhi and also introduced certain reforms in the Tihar jail to improve the situation. For this, she won the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994. In 2003, she was assigned the head of United Nations Police, becoming the first Indian and first woman to do so. In the later stage of her career, she retired from IPS and started her journey in politics with the Anti-corruption movement in 2011.
The film is produced by Gaurav Chawla under Dream Slate Pictures and will be released in 2025.
