A behind-the-scenes video of shooting a one-take war sequence in the upcoming sports-drama Chandu Champion was shared by the makers on social media on Friday. Starring Kartik Aaryan, the film is directed by Kabir Khan.

In the video, we can see Kartik, wearing camouflage, face covered in black soot, preparing for the shot. “We have to recreate the 1965 war sequence,” says Kabir. He then instructs Kartik how to go about the scene. The sequence is shot in Kashmir atop a hill. “Kabir sir is known to shoot at places which take time to reach,” says Kartik into the camera. We then witness the scene being executed as Kartik, along with other soldiers, runs as bombs blast beside him. “This is an important scene as here the protagonist gets shot nine times,” informs Kabir.

Chandu Champion is based on the life of the country’s first paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar, who was a jawan of the Craftsman rank in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers in the Indian Army.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Kabir Khan, and Firuzi Khan, Chandu Champion also stars Vijay Raaz in the role of Petkar's boxing coach and Rajpal Yadav. It has cinematography by Sudeep Chatterjee, music by Pritam, editing by Nitin Baid, and production design by Rajnish Hedao.

The film will be released on June 14.
