Akshay Kumar recently opened up about his films not working at the box-office and said that it is heartbreaking for him to see his films failing to do well. Sarfira released on July 12 but has managed to mint just over Rs 21 crore at the box-office since its release, according to industry tracker, Sacnilk.com.
Speaking to Forbes India, Akshay said, “Behind every film there is a lot of blood, sweat and passion that goes in. It is heart-breaking to see any film fail. But you have to learn to see the silver lining. Every failure teaches you the value of success and increases the hunger for it even further. Luckily, I learnt to deal with it earlier on in my career.”
He added, “Of course, it hurts and impacts you, but that won’t change the fate of the film. It’s not something which is in your control. What is in your control is to work harder, make amends and give it your all to your next film. That’s how I channel my energy and try to move on to the next, focusing my energy where it matters the most.”
In the post-pandemic era, Akshay’s films have struggled to hold their mark at the box-office. Apart from OMG 2 (2023) and Sooryavanshi (2021), none of his films were hits. Sarfira was among his lowest openers at box-office, earning just over Rs 2.4 crore on Day 1. He next has Khel Khel Mein, Sky Force and Singham Again in his slate, releasing later this year.
