Tabu reveals that she refused some films starring Shah Rukh Khan: ‘I cannot dictate who he works with…’

Tabu opened up recently about how she refused some film offers that also included Shah Rukh Khan. She said that she cannot dictate who the superstar works with. The actor also talked about how she has dealt with some insecure actors in her career.

In an interview with Galatta India, Tabu said, I am not a producer, nor a director or a script writer. I am really not dictating who Shah Rukh Khan works with and which films are going to be made and which films are going to be offered to me next. I can only say yes or no to what is being offered to me.”

She added, “There were films that were offered to us. I know the films I have refused and I am sure he must have also refused a few films. So, nothing really happened where our paths were crossed.”

The actor also reflected on dealing with insecure actors and said, “It is not necessary that you be blessed with secure co-actors. So, you have to make do with whatever you get. When you take up a project, you will have to complete it. Now you do it happily, or be upset about it, have a good experience or bad, it gets completed on its own. That’s your commitment to the project. Now, how you have dealt with it emotionally and how it has impacted other areas of your life, that you get to know later.”

She added, “I have met all kinds of people–good, bad, ugly. You have no option. Ideally, it would be great to have good atmosphere on set but I also feel insecurity is a very primal human emotion.”

She also said that she cannot guide writers to make her a centerpiece of a scene. She said, “I can’t call the shots and tell the script writer to write in a specific manner. I just get the script and I will take up the project if I like it and I will refuse it if I don’t like it. But, I am not going to tell them that write a particular scene for me, add an action sequence.”

Tabu had a brief appearance in the song ‘Deewangi Deewangi’ from Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om (2007) where she shared the screen with Shah Rukh.

Tabu will be seen next in the Ajay Devgn starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha which is scheduled to be released on August 2.
